Case Study -1

Smt. Kamla Devi W/o Soban Singh of Village panchayat Tungeshwar were rearing cows and earning of their family was depend a lot on the cow rearing. The family was facing hardship as the cows were not of good breed and despite of all the hard work, it was difficult to make end of all needs. Thereafter, Kamla Devi at the SHG level was instructed by the team members of Himmotthan Society and Sankalp Samiti to put this issue in front of the panchayat meeting and with the help of Himmotthan’s partner NGO Sankalp Samiti, a proposal for the purchase of high breed cattle was presented. Followed this, with the support of Himmotthan Society & Sankalp Samiti, a refurbishment work of cattle shed under MGNREGA scheme was started. Team members of Himmotthan Society along with its partner NGO Sankal Samiti supported Kamla Devi throughout the procedures of procuring high breed cattle and refurbishment of the cattle shed. A proposal of Rs. 39,400/- was prepared and passed under MGNREGA scheme and a loan of Rs. 26,400/- for high breed cow was provided through Raaj Rajeshwari self-reliant cooperative. Along with this an internal loan of Rs. 5000 was also provided through the SHG. This whole support lead to complete refurbishment of the cattle shed i.e, construction of pakka floor, fodder unit, urine tank and compost pit and procurement of high milk yielding cow breed. The high breed yields 5-6 liters of milk per day providing earnings of around Rs. 5000-6000 per month to the family. Apart from daily expenditure, the family is able to paid off the loan without any extra financial burden. Both the family members earned by working under MGNREGA scheme and in addition got a regular source of income through this MGNREGA convergence. The support and guidance of Himmotthan Society and Sankalp Samiti has not only provided a regular income but also strengthen the source of income for the entire Family.
